YOUTH CARE: From caring to questioning to taking action!

What is happening in the world that makes you care, question, worry, disagree, hope or want to act?

HREYN is inviting young people to share their perspectives on human rights, human rights education and the issues shaping the world around us. We are especially interested in hearing from young activists, educators, artists, researchers, students, organisers, communicators and changemakers - but you don't need a specific title, background or CV to take part. If you have something to say, WE WANT TO HEAR IT!

What can you talk about? Here are some possible starting points:

  • Democracy under pressure - authoritarianism, civic participation, freedom of expression, youth participation...

  • War, polarisation & hatred - conflict, hate speech, misinformation, propaganda, dialogue, peace...

  • Human rights under pressure - inequality, discrimination, migration, activism, social movements, civic space...

  • AI, climate & social change - technology, climate justice, privacy, education, the future of work...

Again, these are only starting points. Change them, combine them, challenge them or come up with something completely different. We simply ask that your contribution connects meaningfully with human rights, human rights education and/or youth participation.

How can you contribute?

Choose the format that works best for you:

  • Written piece: around 800 - 2,000 words

  • Audio: around 2-3 minutes

  • Video: maximum 2 minutes

  • Photo story: 6-12 photos (accompanied by a short text (100–200 words) explaining the story, context or perspective behind your photographs)

These are guidelines, not restrictions. Be creative. Experiment. Find your own way of expressing an idea. You can participate individually or as a group. It’s important to remember that we won't be looking for the most academic or polished contribution. We want original ideas (no plagiarism or AI), fresh perspectives and voices that make people think!

What happens next?

HREYN will select 4 featured contributions for publication in our newsletter, website and social media. This is a great opportunity for young people to get a platform, share their thoughts, concerns, ideas and have them reach a wider audience! In addition to this, other submissions may also be highlighted through HREYN's communication channels, so many of you have a chance!

Deadline: 11:59PM. October 23rd, 2026.
